If she saw a woman with a cold glare walking through the shopping district she would've avoided the woman too. It wasn't like Kaia meant to scare the people. She really didn't mean to do so, but when her brain was being bombarded with a multitude of different emotions every millisecond, it was hard not to glare in pain. She only arrived at the mall five minutes before yet she already felt a headache coming on. Had it really been that long since she visited the shopping district that she managed to forget how irritating it was? Kaia sighed. She really wasn't one for making such elementary mistakes. She honestly could not explain why this urge would come along, though. Perhaps it was the hope that she gained enough of a control over her power to withstand the exhausting burdens of practically millions of outside emotions all at once. Either that, or she was a masochist. She had no idea. At the end of every escapade, however, it'd end with a massive migrane that forced her to take a couple sick leave days. When viewing the power of Empathy against all the thousands of other powers in the world, Empathy was not one that stood out. It wasn't amazing like fire manipulation or dangerous like ability absorbtion. That didn't mean that it was not noticing. If people realized how tiring the power was, maybe her students would understand why she was so strict and chooses to stay in her rom for the whole day. Unfortunately, Kaia did not broadcast her power to everyone. People who had the potential to read others' minds weren't exactly welcomed into society, after all. Although she had to deal with all those things, however, she never would wish her power away. ... Maybe she really was a masochist. Kaia let out a small sigh as she passed a set of supposed friends who were emitting a rather nasty set of emotions. She came with the intention to shop for new clothes yet time quickly decided to prove her wrong. The migraine was coming a bit earlier than expected so she was ready to ditch. On her way out, however, she spied an empty coffee shop hiding inconspicuously at the end of a dead end walkway. She let out a sigh of relief. Kaia hurried to the shop, ordered a shot of espresso, and flopped down on a seat. Other than the emotions of the barrista, she couldn't hear a thing. It was a beautiful wonderful silence. words: xxx notes: Gah... this is crappy and short.... sorry....[/style] |
