He weighs at a solid 190 lbs, with a physique that can be described as pretty chiseled for a seventeen year old due to an active lifestyle. There's a diagonal scar in the middle of his forehead that runs down diagonally from his right to left that he received from a wound as a child. His blonde hair reaches the base of the back of his neck. His icy blue eyes, coupled with his tendency to stare off in the distance when he's focusing on something gives him an unfortunately intimidating or unsettling gaze to many, even though he swears that he is working on not doing that. Magnus cares little for fashion, preferring to wear clothes that he feels most comfortable in or finds to be tasteful. Most often, he will wear dark blue jeans with his choice of collared or t-shirt. While his wardrobe has quite some variety to it, his preferred colors are red, black, and white, and can sometimes seen wearing a combination of those colors. As far as t-shirts go, there's an endless variety to them that ranges from graphic tees to band shirts. With shoes, he'll typically be found wearing skate shoes. PERSONALITY There are two main facets to Magnus' personality: extroverted and introverted. The most dominant side is the former. At first glance Magnus will appear to be quite cold and aloof, only focused on himself and what he needs to do, but get him talking, then all pretenses are forgotten. The Swede is actually quite friendly and chill most of the time and can be quite talkative. He tends to do what he wants, but does have a strong degree of self-control. Oftentimes he likes to be the center of attention when he's in this mood. Magnus also has a mischievous side. He loves to use his powers to play pranks on his friends, with the most common being his sudden appearance from out of nowhere when it is really him reforming himself after being quantized. In a way, he is a bit of a troll. His unsettling and sometimes intimidating stare is something he likes to use to mess with people as well. It also makes for excellent deadpan delivery. However, his stare is also something that he does without noticing sometimes. He swears that he is working on not doing that when he doesn't mean to. He can also be a bit of a pervert. While he is really picky about who he calls his friends, Magnus can be a very loyal one if someone gets lucky enough. The second facet is the one not many people usually see, as it is a vestige of his younger years. This is the side that is truly cold and aloof. He prefers to remain silent in many situations and tends to not engage in personal conversations often unless someone speaks to him first or if it is necessary that he speaks. However, this is usually directed towards people he is unfamiliar with. He becomes quiet and reserved. While he can definitely be excited, he will not outwardly show it. The most people will get out of him is a smile or a grin, perhaps even a chuckle. The side of him comes out when he is annoyed, angered, or just deep in thought. Getting under Magnus' skin to the point of angering is a difficult task. However, should it actually be done, expect a myriad of insults and colorful language to be thrown your way. Although he packs quite a punch, he is not likely to throw one unless someone else strikes first. He is also very sneaky in exacting his revenge, as his powers grant him an extreme degree of stealth. Piss him off, and expect your expensive electronics to be wrecked. He will also unleash hell in the form of poltergeist-like behavior, causing trouble in his quantized form. Though typically, he finds that to be a bit too much effort and often holds off on such drastic measures. Things like fear and sadness manifest very rarely. While he does have his fears, he typically does not show them. However, his typical fear response would be to either punch the cause of it or simply quantize. As for sadness, while he may shed a manly tear for certain things, actual sadness in him is hard to come by. Most of the time it just shows as an extended introversion stage. Other times he'll outwardly show something akin to depression. As someone groomed to assume control of his father's company, Magnus has an especially cultivated professional side. While it isn't his true self, it is a combination of his extroverted and introverted side. Despite this act of his, he truly does care about things like efficiency and quality, which made him a name in aftermarket car mods. He behaves in a proper and poised manner, while maintaining a firm hand to show that he is a man who gets what he wants out of a company and business deals. It's his professional act that enables him to mingle with his fellow upper elite. Because he was trained to become a shrewd businessman, he is quite perceptive of people and the environment around him. As a result of his ambitiousness, he is very good at deception, making him able to lie to people without giving away telltale signs of such. This also makes him difficult to fool. EXTRAS Likes: + Music (Metal, Rock, Electronic) + Technology + Sports + Cars + Video games + Red + Writing + Drawing + Pumpkin spice cookies Dislikes: - Idiots - Humid weather - Boredom - Slobs - Rude people - People who force their beliefs on others - Unreliable people - Clowns Talents: + Technology: Given his extensive background in working with technology through his father, Magnus is quite skilled working with technology despite whatever handicaps his powers may give him. This extends to computers and he has a knack for hacking into various systems. Whenever he was at his father's work, he hung out with one of the chief software engineers, who thought it'd be a good idea to teach him how to hack. + Music: Having started piano at an early age and eventually moving onto guitars, Magnus has displayed a remarkable growth in skill within a few years. He can be considered excellent at guitar, and will sometimes play for his friends. He is also proficient in using audio software and hardware like drum machines. His choice of hardware is the Fractal Audio Axe FX II. He typically plays a 7-string guitar, but also has an 8-string as well. He primarily plays progressive metal. + Cars: Magnus makes an excellent mechanic when it comes to vehicles, especially cars. He can quite literally take apart an engine and put it back together in under five minutes. Similarly, his driving skills are akin to those of professional racing drivers. + Sports: Given Magnus' athleticism, he has a penchant for playing several sports in addition to motorsports. His favorites include: rugby, football (soccer), tennis, and ice hockey. He desires to learn martial arts as well, but cannot find time to do so. For now, he makes due with being an excellent brawler. + Marksmanship: Magnus, in line for the takeover of his father's company, is well-acquainted with numerous military vehicles, defense systems, etc. This also extends to weapons, particularly firearms. He finds that most people are unable to keep up when he talks about particular systems, and that merely talking about guns is enough to keep them entertained. Similarly, he has gone to the company shooting range multiple times, taking advantage of the lessons given by a hired coach. At his rate of learning, he is well on his way to becoming a dead eye. + Multilingual: In preparation for taking over his father's business, Magnus was taught several languages in order to better converse with current and would-be clients. Aside from his native Swedish and required English, Magnus is also fluent in: German, Italian, Russian, French, and Mandarin Chinese. In addition, he knows, but is not fluent in, Japanese. COMBAT Strengths: + Quick reaction times + Intelligent + Physically fit Weaknesses: - Reckless - Arrogant - Stubborn Power Strengths: + Will fry any electronic circuitry not grounded or protected by a Faraday cage due to the particles’ high electrical charge, which acts like a continuous electromagnetic pulse on metal objects. + Able to fully quantize into M-particles, entering an intangible state and avoid bodily harm. + The passive effects of the particles, coupled with his ability to fully quantize into particles gives him an excellent amount of stealth capability, as he can also permeate through certain substances as well as travel around relatively undetected if he limits the particles to a very small radius and the fact that the only visual sign of his presence is foggy vision. However, fogginess depends on the concentration of M-particles. The lower the concentration, the less foggy. + Interferes with low-frequency electromagnetic radiation. It will render radar systems and most long-range wireless communication useless. Infrared signals are disrupted, even hidden if a controlled I-field is maintained. Visible light itself becomes somewhat foggy. Power Weaknesses: - Will fry any electronic circuitry not grounded or protected by a Faraday cage due to the particles’ high electrical charge, which acts like a continuous electromagnetic pulse on metal objects. - Will sometimes be unable to reform into solid form, leaving him trapped in a quantized state. It takes quite a bit of energy of him to fully quantize, so he cannot do this often. - Particles, in their most basic state, cannot penetrate through the Earth’s surface, metal, or water. - He is at the mercy of strong electromagnetic fields as he can become trapped in them. Provided the enemy is resourceful enough, he can even be used against his allies because of this. - Renders most long-range wireless communications useless, including but not limited to radio communications like with cell phones and wireless internet, even satellite connections. - Wounds sustained in physical form do not heal upon reformation after quantization. It merely delays any further damage or problems. Power: Particle Manipulation: Magnus has the ability to generate and spread a unique form of elementary particle, dubbed Minovsky particles. These particles have near-zero rest mass. Like any elementary particle, its mass increases to relative to its potential or kinetic energy. It can also carry either a positive or negative electrical charge. When these particles are scattered in an open area, the repulsive forces between charged particles cause them to randomly align into a regular cubic lattice structure called an I-field, which will slowly expand and scatter outwards, however, after dense interference it will take nearly a month before the area can support normal electromagnetic communication again unless Magnus recalls these particles. When Minovsky particles are spread in large numbers in an open area, low-frequency electromagnetic radiation, such as microwaves and radio waves become disrupted. Due to the high electrical charge of Minovsky particles, it creates a continuous electromagnetic pulse effect on metal objects. It messes with electronic circuitry and destroys unprotected circuits because of this. Due to how the particles react with other types of radiation, radar systems and long-range wireless communication systems become useless, infra-red signals are distorted and visible light becomes fogged. A controlled I-field can, in fact, block infrared waves, reducing heat greatly and masking thermal signature. The only countermeasure to these particles is install bulky and expensive shielding on all electronic equipment, grounding them, or protecting them in Faraday cages, but this only serves to counteract the effect it has on electronic circuitry, not the interference with electromagnetic communication. While Magnus is aware, though not fully aware, of what his ability is capable of, he has much to learn in order to fully control it. Almost anything he does scatters particles, some more so than others. While Minovsky particles are invisible to the naked eye, Magnus is fully capable of seeing them. As such, he has to constantly recall particles back to his body in order to avoid frying the electronics of his peers and teachers. He is beginning to show some signs of being able to create mega-particle beams, but only between his thumb and index finger. Even then, they have to be practically touching each other. The only sign of him being able to do this is a bright and intense heat and blue light being produced from the tiny beam between his fingers, which really can't do harm to anyone else. HISTORY Magnus was born as an only child into a very wealthy family on March 17 in Stockholm, Sweden. His father, Ingram Gundersen, owned and headed a successful aerospace and defense company, Gundersen AB. His mother worked as a professor at a nearby university teaching economics. From an early age, his parents emphasized education, designing a strict but flexible curriculum for him and hiring the best teachers money could buy so that he could be educated while his parents were at work. Despite the busy schedule they both led, his father was no fool. No son could grow without the love and care of his parents and friends. As such, he took it upon himself to spend less time at work along with his wife and raise his son, with both spending much needed quality time with him and raising him in a warm environment. At age six, his parents made him take piano lessons. He displayed remarkable growth from a novice to a proficient musician in a span of several years. However, he began to drift away from piano and instead took up interest in guitar at age eleven. Though reluctant at first, his parents eventually supported his desire to learn this instrument instead, eventually surpassing his proficiency with the piano. It was also around the age of six that Magnus had taken a great interest in his father's own hobby, collecting, restoring, and modifying cars. In fact, his father, who eventually wanted him to take over his company, supported him greatly in this. The two would often work together restoring classic cars and modifying them. Magnus had become skilled and knowledgeable to the point where he was already designing a variety of aftermarket mod packages along with his father by the age of thirteen, using materials his company used for their aircraft to produce high-quality and high-performance parts for people to use for their vehicles. He had even gone as far as profiting impressively for someone his age. For the most part, Magnus' future seemed to be secured and he appeared to be well on his way to eventually taking over his father's company until one fateful and strange day when he was thirteen. Magnus, at the time, had been suffering from a terrible head cold which had been disrupting his studies. After going through sneeze fit after sneeze fit, he unleashed he strongest, and possibly the most painful one he had ever experienced. In fact, he had unknowingly spread high density Minovsky particles throughout the entire mansion, causing every circuited electronic that was not grounded to completely fry and turning the air foggy and distorted. While Magnus simply shrugged it off and thought of it as a strange coincidence, his father had become obsessed with finding the cause of this strange phenomenon, which had demonstrated properties similar to an EMP device. However, he had given up after several weeks of inconclusive findings. His hidden powers would eventually make themselves known on the night of his fourteenth birthday. He and his parents were returning to the limo that would bring them to their mansion after throwing a celebration for him. A drunk driver had sped past several stoplights, barreling down the street towards them. Magnus quickly noticed the oncoming car, and without even thinking, had shoved his parents out of harm's way. They could only look in horror as the car surely slammed into him. However, something unexpected had happened. Instead of running him over, he appeared to suddenly break up and flicker, as though he had turned into a hologram. What actually happened though, was that he had broken apart and scattered into trillions of tiny particles. The car, which had passed through this scattering cloud, experienced the full extent of its EMP-like properties. Its circuits had fried and the car had gone completely dead. It stopped eventually, but not before crashing into several cars and flipping over. It had finally dawned on his father that he had been the cause of the EMP phenomenon half a year earlier in the family's mansion. Realizing how much of threat his son's uncontrolled powers posed to his company and the rest of Europe and possibly even the whole world, he explained to Magnus the situation in which he had ended up in. After a few days to reflect on just how drastically his life had changed, Magnus agreed to enroll in the Alinari Academy for the Empowered. MISCELLANEOUS Alias: Mile Zero Other Characters: None yet.
