Whether its natural or not is a secret Nico keeps to himself. Nico's eyes are a light green though he has been known to wear pink eye contacts when he randomly felt like it. His expression is neutral yet others say he looks bored and irritated. He's capable of expressing emotions... it's just that he enjoys seeing other people's reactions to his expression. Nico has a lanky form mostly due to the fact that he doesn't eat as much as he should and he does not try to increase his physical strength. Because he spends most of his time in his coffee shop, Nico is usually seen wearing his uniform: a gray striped dress shirt, pink tie, and black slacks. On heist nights, his uniform changes slightly. He trades his pink tie for a striped one and pulls on a white hoodie. The sides of his black pants are lined with two pink stripes. He also wears gloves and large headphones because he thinks it makes him look cool. When at home, though, he tends to wear white t-shirts with sweatpants. After wearing such formal outfits for most of the week, he deserves such a reward. PERSONALITY Most people would describe the coffee shop owner as a rather strange person. It's not far off from the truth; Nico's actions constantly contradicts his actions. Nobody would ever expect the inexpressive man to be a caring and affectionate person, after all. To people he's close to, he won't hesitate to randomly pull them into a hug or pat their head if the urge comes along. In that sense, he's patient with them and is not quick to anger. If he sees his friends distressed or sad, he'd instantly stop what he's doing to check and see if they're alright. He might even go to hurt the offender if it came down to it. As caring as he may be, though, he loves to tease. Using his blunt wit, he'll pick on anything he can find and use it to his advantage. He doesn't do this with mean intentions; it's all in good fun. Surprisingly, Nico is extremely work-oriented. While it may seem like he's simply lounging around the coffee counter most of the time, this is simply his break time. When in his office, one would find him slaving over his computer trying to figure out a multitude of things such as which cappuccino to sell next to the next place he would break into. When planning these things out, Nico uses logic to figure out strategically the best plan of action. He'll spend hours meticulously deciding the best route to take. He hates leaving things to chance and will only do that if forced to. Perhaps contributing to the rather large amount of time to plan things out is the fact that Nico is extremely disorganized. His office is cluttered with random papers and folders. Not even the ground is visible. When conducting himself in rogue activities, he takes on another mentality. By using his manipulative words, he can coax unsuspecting people to reveal information needed by the Rogues. When breaking into places, he won't hesitate to permanently silence any innocent witnesses and when finishing his heist he typically burns the place down to remove his tracks. Things are not as easy when working with a partner, though. Stubborn as an ox, he will refuse to follow through with his partner's plans only until he absolutely has to. EXTRAS Likes: + Carrot Cake + Rainy Days + Eavesdropping + Old Books + Wind-Up Toys Dislikes: - Olives - Cleaning - Early Mornings - Electronics - Losing Talents: + Photographic Memory - While he would never claim his memory to be perfect, he certainly retains things better than others. When memorizing the layout of a building, it only takes a couple seconds to commit it all to memory. It didn't come naturally, though. It took a lot of practice. + Multilingual - From early on, Nico's parents forced him to learn different languages in order to further the progress of the Rogues. He currently knows English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian. He's currently trying to learn to read and speak Mandarin Chinese. + Brewing a Mean Cup of Joe - While it might not seem like much, it helps to make his cover seem more believable. A lot of people visit his coffee shop for a taste of the delicious beverage he provides. COMBAT Strengths: + Agile + High Stamina + Quick Reflexes Weaknesses: - Low Strength - Far-Sighted - Overconfident Power Strengths: + Able to pass through most material + Increases evasiveness + Granted access to the most secure of places Power Weaknesses: - Cannot pass through organic material - Has a difficult time making only a part of his body intangible - If not careful, is prone to falling through the floor Power: Intangibility - This power allows Nico to move through most objects. Scientifically, he is able to move his atoms between other atoms thus allowing him to phase through objects completely unharmed. Unfortunately, Nico does not have complete control over his power yet. When phasing through objects, his whole body tends to enter this mode. Therefore, if he wants to phase through a door on the tenth floor of a building, if he's not careful, he'll end up passing through the floor thus sending him to the lower floor. In order to counter this, he usually is forced to jump through walls or step on a piece of paper (an organic material) if he needs to reach into something like a safe. HISTORY Nicolae Lorand was born on April 14th in a small log cabin hidden in a dense Canadian rain forest. His parents were both heavily wanted Rogue agents that took refuge in Canada to escape the authorities. Nico's power manifested itself rather early. As a toddler, his parents were surprised to find that their child somehow escaped the confines of the plastic crib. After the same situation happened a couple more times, his parents soon found out that their child possessed the power of intangibility. Overjoyed that their son was an empowered like themselves, his parents began bringing their son up in a way that would train him to be the best there ever was. Because young brains are rather spongy and absorbent, Nico's parents started talking to him in different languages. After came exercises that would increase his agility and speed. When Nico turned eight, his family left the safe confines of the Canadian forest. His parents became reactivated as rogue agents and started to accept missions again. When he became old enough, his parents began taking him on missions. Through the whole time, Nico did not think much of it. He simply went through with his parents because it made them happy. Their teachings of rogue motives were also instilled upon him at an early age. When it came to justifying his rogue actions, there was not a doubt in his mind that he was correct. His beliefs were challenged a couple months after he turned fourteen. His parents received a lengthy mission in England where they were ordered to disguise themselves as coffee shop owners. Wanting their child to learn the ways of regular children, Nico's parents sent him to the local public school in the area. There he met a girl named Molly. When he arrived, his teacher had him sit next to the girl and what a noisy thing she was. At first, Nico tried his best to keep away from others; he couldn't observe if people bothered him, after all. Unfortunately, he quickly found himself unable to observe. His neighbor simply would not leave him alone. It seemed like no matter where he went, Molly was sure to go. The worst thing about Molly is that she didn't know how to shut up. She'd follow him blabbering on a mile a minute about random things that did not matter. When she was absent for a week, Nico was horrified to realize that he actually missed the girl. The brat managed to grow on him only after a month! As time went on, he started to spend time with Molly behind his parents' backs. Though he would never admit it to her face, he enjoyed Molly's company. The more he was with her, the more he began questioning Rogue motives. Humans weren't as bad as his parents made them out to be. In fact, they were rather nice. One day, however, Molly caught a cold and couldn't come to school. After begging for a couple minutes, she managed to convince Nico to bring the homework she missed to her house. When he arrived, he couldn't help but hear the sounds of things being knocked over. Worried for his friend, Nico phased through the wall of the house. The scene that met him was shocking. It looked as if a tornado flew through the house. Broken plates were strewn on the floor and all the cabinets were open and messy as if someone swept through them. Fear rose in his heart as he immediately went out to find Molly. He found her lying on the ground with a man sitting over her, his hands on her neck. Nico couldn't bring himself to move. Rather surprised to hear another person enter the room, the burglar stared straight at Nico before escaping out the window. The image of the man's face was burned into Nico's mind. Although he should have stopped the man, the shock from his dead friend knocked him out cold. By the time he woke up, he was in the hospital and was later questioned as the only eye witness to Molly's murder. After days of questioning, they finally caught the man Nico described. However, unable to find any other evidence that convicted the man other than Nico's testimony, they were forced to let the man go free. In rage, Nico followed the murderer and slaughtered him himself. Nico quickly learned that the human race was a primitive and apathetic species. They didn't possess the power to take care of their own nor did they enact justice even if the truth stared right in their faces. They couldn't even avenge innocent Molly's death. Humans were simply too blind to see the larger picture. Suddenly, the motives of the Rogues made sense. Humans did not have the right to rule over themselves anymore. If life gave certain people the power to become better than others, it must have been for a reason, right? Such an explanation would make sense. Rather shocked to see the amount of commotion their son caused, the Lorand family quickly packed up and moved away soon after the incident. After following his parents lead, when he turned eighteen, he began to take on solo Rogue assignments. His recent one took him to Sicuro, Italy to spy on the Alinari Academy. There, he would take the disguise of a coffee shop owner. MISCELLANEOUS Alias: Hiro Other Characters: Kaia Roethe Faceclaim: VOCALOID, VY2; nicolae dumitru |
