Her dark hair is cut into a bob and hangs straight, although it sometimes appears a bit messy. Carys’ eyes are a deep brown in color, however when she uses her power they appear to glow a bit red. Being near-sighted, she will always be seen wearing glasses otherwise she’s blind as a bat. Of average weight for a girl her age and height, the Welsh girl has a killer figure, but she seeks to hide it as much as possible to avoid drawing attention to herself. To accomplish this she’s taken to wearing sweaters and jackets that may appear slightly too big for her, although she also wears them because of the bitter chill that never seems to quite leave her home of Wales. Despite this, you’ll normally see her wearing skirts with leggings rather than pants. Being a farm girl, she’s not one for high heels. She usually is found wearing boots or mary janes of some kind on her feet. Carys is very minimal in any make-up she wears, usually keeping it to mascara only. PERSONALITY Carys takes being introvert to an extreme. She is highly antisocial and pretty much does everything within her power to limit her contact with the outside world. She is terribly shy and will always speak in a soft and unsure voice, occasionally stuttering should she become nervous. She has a very difficult time interacting with others around her and usually comes off as being cold or uncaring because of this when the truth is really the exact opposite. Preferring books to people, you’re more likely to find her cooped up in her room reading or writing, somehow immersing herself in a fantasy world to get away from the reality that surrounds her. If someone actually manages to break through Carys’ defenses of essentially isolating herself from everyone, she’s really quite sweet. Once someone is friends with Carys, she will do anything and everything she can to keep and please them. She is nothing but nice to those she loves, and is a very tender-hearted and kind girl. She’ll give shy smiles and giggle softly and appear more adorable than cold. Carys is the friend that stays up and talks with you all night after your boyfriend or girlfriend dumps you. She’s the friend that helps you study the week before a big test and also probably brings you food when you’re sick and not feeling well. In the same way that she is caring, though, she is also highly impressionable. As said previously, she will do anything and everything within her power to please her friends, and this has no limitations. If she’s loyal to someone, she is loyal until the very end unless they somehow betray her. This means that if she happens to make friends with someone who isn’t exactly the prime example of a law abiding citizen, she will probably find herself getting into trouble. Peer pressure is something she very easily gives into and she tends to be trusting of her friends to a point where she’s highly gullible. Whoever she is friends with will shape her behavior, and this clearly is not necessarily a good thing depending on who happens to earn her trust. That being said, her trust isn’t easily earned. Carys was abused by her mother as a child, her older brother being her only friend for years and her father being completely oblivious until things escalated to a terrible point that ended in disaster for the entire family. She’s highly suspicious of others because of this and also fearful that if she cannot keep her powers under control, that she may hurt someone unintentionally has she has done in the past. Carys distances herself from people for these reasons. It takes several encounters to get her to even look you in the eye, let alone start opening up to someone. Persistence and patience is needed to befriend her, but it is well worth it for she is one of the best friends you could ever hope to have. Carys is pretty much docile. She doesn’t really have a temper at all and just doesn’t seem to have the ability to be angry. This seems to go for a lot of normal emotions that one would expect someone to have. It’s true that she’s very reserved in how she acts, but she never seems to be upset at all. She may appear nervous or slightly flustered, but she never appears aggressive. Sadness is an entirely different issue. Carys judges herself very harshly on everything she does, something that she likely learned from her mother’s constant badgering when she was younger. If she can’t do it perfectly then it’s not good enough, and she’ll tell herself so over and over again in her mind. She never sees merit in anything she does and becomes quite flustered when anyone tells her she’s done good. EXTRAS Likes: + Animals + Books + Writing + Reading + Cooking Dislikes: - Loud Noises - Bullies - Migraines - Social Interaction - Obnoxious People Talents: + Cooking – With her mother being the holy terror that she was and her father usually out of the house, Carys learned how to throw things together to have dinner on the table at an early age. Over the years she’s very clearly evolved but for the most part her talent is making simple things taste ridiculously delicious. Her specialty is comfort food, as she and her brother needed lots of it when they were younger, plus it’s just easy to make. Also let it be known that her pumpkin pies and spice cookies are to die for. + Writing – While she’ll swear up and down that she’s no good and that her stories have no substance to them, Carys is an excellent writer. She loves to spin yarns and you’ll often find her jotting ideas down in a notebook. Occasionally you’ll also run into her in a quiet place writing, in which case you may have to try a bit to get her attention. When she’s writing she’s in her own little fantasy world and it can be difficult to drag her back to reality. + Knitting – Wales is a cold place, usually all year round. Carys found a relaxing hobby in knitting when she was still a young girl, picking it up from her mother before things got terrible. She has an ungodly amount of scarves and mittens because of this and when the holidays roll around, she often shoves them onto her friends as gifts and if you don’t want to hurt her feelings, you better wear ‘em. COMBAT Strengths: + Quick Reflexes + Intelligent + High Endurance Weaknesses: - Physically Weaker - Poor Eyesight - Not a Strategist Power Strengths: + Induce severe pain like that of an amped up migraine for up to five minutes + Brief memory loss for up to five minutes, but the memory will return after a short period of time + Induce a state of unconsciousness in another person, but this too only lasts for about five minutes Power Weaknesses: - Does not have very good control of her powers as they tend to misfire if he is under stress of any kind - Will always get migraines after using her powers to knock someone out - If she uses her powers to frequently within a short period of time, she is prone to fainting spells Power: Psionic Blasts – Carys has the power of psionic blasts. While the power itself can be very destructive, she doesn’t have nearly enough control over it to cause too much damage yet. It is a psychic ability which roots her powers in the mental plain. The gist of what Carys can do so far is cause you one hell of a headache, make you take a sudden short nap, and maybe make you forget briefly abut that detention you were fixing to give her. Fairly basic things, none of which last very long. Carys also tends to not want to use her powers for various reasons, mainly because the number one drawback for her seems to be migraines. Using her powers to a certain extent have her prone to headaches and migraines that keep her inside quite a bit, and have occasionally been so severe that she’s fainted. In addition, her control over her powers are very limited. If she is in a situation where she is under stress of any kind, it’s very likely that her powers will misfire and suddenly anyone immediately around her finds themselves with a severe migraine. This misfiring is what’s made her so antisocial as she’s scared she’ll hurt someone like she hurt her mother when she was young. HISTORY Carys was born on May 1st to Wynne and Aled Sayer. The second and final child, her brother Idris came three years before her. Carys’ childhood was a relatively quiet one. Her parents ran a horse farm just outside of Bangor in Wales. Carys and Idris spent their time helping their parents with the daily chores that came with running a farm of any sort in between running around the vast open fields. The only real trouble would be their mother. Whenever their father would leave with the trailer to transport any horses to their new home or to the vet, she’d show her true colors. She worked her children to the bone whenever Aled was out of site, and punishing them severely if they didn‘t do as they were told. Wynne had Idris trudging about outside, refusing to let him in until the chores were done. She made Carys clean the whole house from top to bottom, looming over her all the while and developing a habit of stepping on her hands while she scrubbed the floors. If the children didn’t work hard or fast enough, she’d beat them with anything she found. These items ranged from wooden spoons to heavy rolling pins. Despite the recurring injuries Idris and Carys seemed plagued with, Adel never seemed to catch on. Wynne was a brilliant liar and actress, and threatened her children to keep quiet. “Keep quiet or I’ll kill your brother. Keep quiet or I’ll kill your sister.” This is what she would tell them and this is what kept the abuse a secret for so long. As Carys and Idris reached their preteen years, the younger of the two siblings started to encounter other problems. At times, Wynne would come down with terrible headaches while badgering Carys, and her daughter would suffer the same migraines, but so severe that she couldn’t stand and become dizzy at random. Her parents took her to the doctor who had no explanation as to why their daughter was behaving so strangely. The only connection that was seen was that her symptoms would become worse the more stress she was under. At the age of ten, things finally boiled over and Carys’ powers came to light. Her mother had hit Carys over the head with a rolling pin and knocked her to the floor. She’d then gone after Idris, knocking him down and beating him. Fearing for her brother’s life, Carys screamed at her to leave him alone, not that Wynne listened. The young girl could feel pressure building in her head just behind her eyes, like she was getting another migraine. Fixated on her mother, Carys screamed frantically for her to stop. This time, something happened. The pressure she felt was suddenly gone and Wynne dropped the rolling pin she’d held before falling to her knees. The siblings regarded their mother with suspicion. Was this a trick? Carys crawled to Idris and helped him stand. As the two glanced at their mother, they saw her eyes darted about looking up at the ceiling, mumbling to herself incoherently. Frightened and confused, the children waited in the barn with the horses until their father returned home. Whilst there, they noticed that none of the horses would go near Carys and could hear their mother begin to scream. When Adel returned home he found his children and wife were both in need of medical attention. They were all driven to the hospital. Carys had passed out on the way to the doctor’s and Idris needed stitches long his temple. Wynne was another story. Carys had unintentionally released a psionic attack on her mother so severe that it had essentially fried her brain. Delusional and incoherent, the doctor declared her insane and recommended they send her to a sanitarium. Carys’ brother was the one to make the connection that his sister was an empowered. Carys herself didn’t have too much trouble believing it. It explained everything, her migraines, her mother becoming dizzy around her, and of course her current condition. Idris, ever supporting of his little ister, had hugged her and told her that everything was going to be alright now. Their father thought otherwise. While weighed down with guilt about not noticing the abuse his children had suffered, he was also terrified of Carys’ capabilities. He was afraid that if she’d done it to Wynne, she could just as easily do it to him. No longer comfortable with Carys staying in the house, he began looking into sending his daughter to Alinari Academy. As the years progressed and Carys grew older, it would become readily apparent that sending her to such a school was probably a good idea. She had little control over her powers. Any situation that put her under stress ended with her and usually her brother and anyone else in the direct general vicinity to have migraines or worse. A short while after she turned seventeen, Carys was sent to Italy to attend Alinari Academy.
